41.	Freshman students	College freshmen;	Freshman (first year) students wore the traditional beanies or dinks as part of orientation during the 1940s and 1950s.

42.	Friedrich Cactus Garden	Friedrich Cactus Garden; Parks; Student Union Building;	The cactus gardens in the foreground with the Student Union Building in the background. The cacti were a gift of the Friedrich family of San Antonio. The scope of the gardens were diminished with the construction of residence halls on the lower campus.

43.	George Storch Memorial Library	Library buildings; George Storch Memorial Library	Photograph is taken with Storch statue in the foreground looking west. The building was used as the main campus library until the new library was opened in 1978. Funds to build the Storch Library were the gift of Louise J. Lips and her son Charles in memory of Mrs. Lips father, George Storch.

44.	Gillespie Home	Gillespie, William -- Homes and haunts; College teachers	This is the home of William Gillespie, Professor of at Trinity in Tehuacana. Gillespie is at center of photo with wife at his side. Other people are family members and students. Note one young man in school uniform that is modeled on Confederate army uniform.

46.	Guenther Park	Guenther Park; Northrup Hall; Parks	Photograph of Guenther Park with students leaving Northrup Hall in the background. Guenther Park was a small park area named in memory of Erhard R. Guenther commemorating a gift of 6.4 acres of land by Pioneer Flour Mills to Trinity in 1946. The park area was constructed in 1953 and was demolished when the student union building was expanded in the 1970s.

49.	J. H. Wofford	Wofford, J. H.; College trustees	Wofford served on the TU Board of trustees from 1872-1882 and from 1883-85. He also served as agent to raise money for the university.

50.	J. W. Pearson	Pearson, J.W.; College trustees	Pearson served as a university trustee from 1896-1901.

51.	James W. Laurie	Laurie, James W.;	James W. Laurie, Trinity's 14th president, served from 1951-1970. Photo was taken c. 1950 when Laurie was pastor of Central Presbyterian Church in Buffalo, New York where he served from 1942-1951.

Laurie, Trinity president, and Presbyterian clergyman James Robinson, pastor of the Church of the Master in New York City and founder of Cross Roads Africa program. Robinson visited the Trinity campus in 1961 to encourage Trinity students to paticipate in the program which provided opportunities for American students to visit Africa and become familiar with the social and economic problems facing the continent. Other Texas colleges also participated in the event which was the first of its kind in Texas.
